SELECTED, ADDITIONAL MJ HUDSON PROJECTS
As the sole UX/UI Designer at MJ Hudson, on top of the main project of building the MJ Hudson corporate and investors website, I led and produced multiple smaller projects. These projects included a charity portal, multiple SaaS demo sites, the company intranet platform, client portals, and more.
I led every project end-end-to-end, starting with intensive research, prototyping and testing, and up to live build and SEO. Once live, I maintain and grow these platforms using both qualitative and quantitative analysis. Bridging the gap between tech and marketing, I also help develop marketing and social campaigns, as well as producing in house video.
Unfortunately, I am not able to display the intranet or client portals. However, below, are selected examples of some of these additional projects and platforms I have managed, designed, tested and maintained during my time at MJ Hudson.
HUDSON’S HEROES
*Unfortunately, since MJ Hudson was acquired by Apex, the live site no longer exists.
Hudson’s heroes (in final stages) | Responsive site | Payment and archive fundraising charity platform
BRIEF
Build a fundraising platform for the MJ Hudson charity, Hudson’s Heroes. This site must display upcoming events, previous endeavours and current fundraising opportunities. Integrate a payment system for users to contribute directly to chosen charities with options for a one-off or or repeated donations.
PROCESSES
With initial research into similar platforms and user needs, I was able to rapidly build and test a prototype with a unique design system, including and elaborating on some provided graphics. After A/B testing JustGiving and GiveWP payment options, I worked closely with our developer to incorporate and adjust GiveWP’s plugin in order to meet our needs.
AREAS OF PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT
Given free-range to put real personality into the platform, this was a great test in working closely and quickly with a graphic designer and a developer to achieve optimum results. Given basic graphics, I was able to reproduce them into a range of responsive SVGs using Illustrator. I was also involved in communication with various charities in order to set up Stripe accounts for direct donations.
Along with this, I contributed to fundraising efforts through internal events. Aiding fundraising opportunities is definitely something I would like to take forward and continue to be involved in.
RISKMONITOR
*Unfortunately, since MJ Hudson was acquired by Apex, the live site no longer exists.
RiskMonitor (in live build) | Responsive site | SaaS demo
BRIEF
Design and prototype a website that can be used to demonstrate the benefits of the RiskAdvantage SaaS. The platform must include information on key features, services, benefits, reporting capabilities, and staff. Additionally, provide prospective customers with the opportunity to reach out for a more in depth demonstration of the services, and give existing customers the ability to login directly to the RiskAdvantage portal from this new platform.
PROCESSES
This is an ongoing project, in the final dev stages. Working rapidly in-line with service experts, I produce a prototype that was tested in-house. Like all other projects, it started with rigorous research into competitors and users. Among other things, I put together a comprehensive competitive analysis, various scenarios and user flows along with affinity mapping to help section off needs of the user and the business. Given a set of example reports, I was asked to reflect these with a set of graphics. The final steps were aligning the servers, domains and the login system to go directly into the existing customer portal without breaking a smooth user path.
AREAS OF PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT
This was a great chance to take potentially dull information and give it some personality by producing a design system of graphics. I was permitted to develop a full design system that reflected the MJ Hudson brand but also allowed for RiskMonitor to have it’s own style. Building as the business was growing, it was a real test in flexibility, as branding and business goals developed rapidly alongside the build. I developed a great deal in my ability to project manage and present my findings and ideation during this process while communicating across various teams to streamline processes. Working closely with service experts, I believe we reflected the needs of both the user and the business effectively, bringing a synergy to the service.
BRIDGE FUND MANAGEMENT
*Unfortunately, since MJ Hudson was acquired by Apex, the live site no longer exists.
Bridge Fund Management | Responsive site | Document library
BRIEF
Redesign and migrate the old Bridge site in line with new MJ Hudson branding. Simplify the user’s route to the document library. Compliance is paramount - Reproduce and test the relevant pop-ups in order to verify eligibility for viewing. Once complete, maintain and update documents regularly to comply with regulatory changes.
PROCESSES
The existing site had a broken-up, labyrinthine catalogue of paths to reach relevant documentation. Using card sorting and affinity, we were able to streamline the language and signposting. With competitive analysis and user testing, we created a smoother and more guided path for the users to reach their needed documents. We also implemented sophisticated caching to provide the possibility to remember user paths and help the user to reach their goals faster after the first completion.
AREAS OF PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT
With this being a heavily regulated library, I improve my ability to work within parameters and keep in-line with compliance necessities. Cataloguing and developing simple and clear segmentation of libraries was the toughest challenge and was achieved by strong communication with industry experts and user testing. We developed a good relationship and speedy turnaround for frequent document updates. We were also able to remove multiple backwards paths when switching between libraries by adding a structure of filters.
