PROCESSES
Client communication | Dissection of provided UX research | Scenarios | Paper prototypes | Icon building | Hi-fi wireframes | Design system creation
BUSINESS GOALS MET
Create process for trial purchasing
Provide platform for player promotion
Provide platform for scout/agent capabilities from self promotion to player discovery
Allow for posts and media to be shared outside of the app
Next stage of funding secured as a result of my prototype
BRIEF
Using the provided research and information architecture, develop an app that can help football players, scouts and agents promote and discover talent via trials and scouting reports. These wireframes will be a key component in the progress of the app in securing a new round of funding.
OVERVIEW
Get Scouted is an app that aids the promotion and discovery of talent in the footballing world. It’s a revolutionary take on archiving and displaying player profiles at the lower levels. The app houses separate capabilities for the player and the agent/scout. These capabilities allow players to create and promote their profiles and stats, and also to discover and attend trials. On the agent/scout side, users can discover players, produce scouting reports and find relevant trials.
I was provided with basic information in terms of the direction of the app and some simple wireframes. I was asked to concentrate on UI and develop these two parallel paths.
OUTCOME
Over a three week period myself and the client kept in close contact. Communication was great and with the client’s extensive knowledge, I was able to act and adapt accordingly. I developed a set of hi-fi wireframes for both players and scouts. Early focus was on icon building and player profile creation. The player and the scout both have customised profile capabilities from a social feed to a player CV. Players are able to upload images and clips as visual aids to help promote their talents. As well as this, both parties are can find, purchase and attend various trials.
Furthermore, I was successfully able to develop a scouting watchlist. The last feature on my agenda allowed scouts to fill out player/match reports. I felt that this feature needed more research in order to fulfil its potential and after a discussion with the client, he decided to come back to this at a later date.
Overall, the client was extremely pleased with what I produced (and, though I was otherwise occupied, has since requested I work with him again). With the help of my wireframes, he successfully received his next level of funding and has since taken my wireframes to a developer and brought them to life.
MY SUGGESTED NEXT STEPS
Test and iterate wireframes
Fill gaps in user experience. (The client was more focused on developing the MVP visual design in order to display his vision. Because of this, there are currently gaps in the some of the pathways.)
Develop error states and confirmation messages
Research and develop the feature that allows the scouts to produce a report on players and matches
